Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 11The Economic Offences Wing – Crime Branch Jammu has submitted a comprehensive 158-page charge-sheet in the Court in connection with FIR No. 06/2020. The accused, Mohinder Pal Singh and the late Ajit Pal Singh, both sons of Piara Lal, were charged under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 201, 120-B/RPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu. The case pertains to their involvement in a criminal conspiracy to fabricate a fake Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) with the intent of fraudulently claiming relief as a PoJK (Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir) refugee amounting to Rs.4,49,692.
The case originated from a complaint filed by Gurnam Singh, a resident of Nai Basti Korotana Khurd, Tehsil Suchetgarh, R.S Pura Jammu. The complainant alleged that the accused, who is a displaced person from Jalbhi Tehsil Bhimber District Mirpur, manipulated the PRC in his favor using fraudulent documents. After obtaining the PRC, the accused collaborated with Revenue Authorities to destroy the original file and records to cover up the fraud. Later, the fake PRC was presented as genuine to claim a one-time Settlement Relief as a PoJK refugee.
Following the complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated, and the probe substantiated the allegations. The formal case was registered for an in-depth investigation. The investigative process included the seizure of relevant records, recording statements of witnesses, and gathering scientific, circumstantial, and material evidence. The accused were found guilty of offenses under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 201, 120-B/RPC.
The charge-sheet has now been presented in the Court for judicial determination, revealing the extent of the fraud and the legal consequences for those involved in the fake PRC scheme.
