Police foil two bovine smuggling attempts, arrest notorious smuggler | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 11: In a relentless effort to curb illegal bovine smuggling, the Samba Police, under the vigilant oversight of Senior Superintendent Benam Tosh, successfully thwarted two smuggling attempts, leading to the rescue of 21 bovine animals. Notorious smuggler Anwar Hussain, hailing from Katyal RS Pura district Jammu, was apprehended in the operation. Two separate cases have been registered - FIR No.156/2023 u/s 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act at Police Station Vijaypur, and FIR No. 106/2023 u/s 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act at Police Station Ghagwal. Investigations are currently underway. Led by SHO Police Station Ghagwal Bharat Bhushan and SHO Police Station Vijaypur Sandeep Charak, the police teams, operating under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram, SDPO Vijaypur Rohit Kumar, and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, ensured the successful interception of the smuggling attempts. This recent achievement adds to the impressive track record of the Samba Police. In the past ten months, a total of 94 bovine smugglers have been arrested, with 76 FIRs filed against them. The crackdown has also resulted in the seizure of 65 vehicles used for smuggling, and the rescue of 750 bovine animals in the Samba district. The crackdown, initiated following the directives of Senior Superintendent Benam Tosh, underscores the commitment of the Samba Police to tackle illegal activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the bovine population.
