The suspect, son of Abdul Hussain and a resident of Village Kothian, Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi, has been implicated in several criminal cases, prompting law enforcement to take decisive action.
Mohd Azam's criminal record includes involvement in cases such as FIR No. 134/2020 U/S 188 IPC r/w 11 PCA Act, FIR No. 01/2021 U/S 188 IPC r/w 11 PCA Act, FIR No. 03/2021 U/S 188 IPC r/w 11 PCA Act at Police Station Sunderbani District Rajouri, FIR No 15/2021 U/S 188 IPC r/w 11 PCA Act at Police Station Akhnoor District Jammu, and FIR No 63/2023 U/S 188 IPC r/w 11 PCA Act at Police Station Pouni District Reasi. Additionally, a complaint U/S 107/151/110 Cr.PC has been registered at Police Station Pouni District Reasi.
Considering the persistent involvement of Mohd Azam in bovine smuggling and various other criminal activities, Reasi Police deemed it necessary to take stringent measures to ensure public safety. Under the guidance of Sh. Amit Gupta-JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, a comprehensive dossier for the Public Safety Act was prepared and forwarded for the necessary detention order to the District Magistrate.
Acting on the directives of Sh. Vishesh Paul Mahajan (JKAS), District Magistrate Reasi, the detention order under the PSA was formally issued. Subsequently, Mohd Azam was arrested and confined to Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu.
SSP Reasi, in sharing the details, emphasized the commitment of Reasi Police to public safety and the eradication of notorious criminals from society. This move reflects the dedication of law enforcement to ensure the well-being of the community and uphold the principles of justice.
