After calling Mir, a ‘conspirator’, Omar terms Altaf Bukhari as ‘BJP man’

Early Times Report

Baramulla, Nov 15: After calling senior Apni Party leader Ghulam Hassan Mir, a “conspirator” former J&K chief minister and National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah, on Wednesday trained guns towards Apni Party president, Altaf Bukhari.
Addressing a party convention at Pattan in North Kashmir, Omar said, “I fail to understand that when I, despite being a former Chief Minister, and other top politicians were spending days and nights in detention in 2019, how come Altaf Bukhari was enjoying freedom. Please tell us this secret, how and why you (Altaf Bukhari) were free?”
He claimed: “Altaf Bukhari cannot talk against BJP as he is a part of it and he is a BJP man.”
Pertinently, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday while addressing a gathering in Tangmarg had taken pot shots at the former MLA Gulmarg and senior Apni Party leader, Ghulam Hassan Mir and had accused him of hatching conspiracies to weaken Kashmiris. However, Mir had hit back asking Omar to tell people how many times has his party cheated the common people.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “Omar Abdullah is trying to project himself and his party as the only viable option for the people. It seems he has realized that political parties like Apni Party and others have made inroads into the areas that were considered as NC strongholds. He (Omar) is trying to discredit his political opponents and is trying to remain relevant by stoking controversies.”
He said, “Omar launching direct attacks on the Apni Party leaders seems to have caught Altaf Bukhari and his colleagues by surprise. It’s for the first time in the recent past that Omar has taken the Apni Party leaders head on despite them issuing many provocative statements in the past.”
An observer said, “It appears that Omar has understood that his party is losing ground and him remaining silent could prove detrimental for the National Conference. In Kashmir political parties have started fighting it out.”
