Kathua, Nov 18: In a significant operation against illegal mining activities, the Kathua Police seized a total of 09 vehicles, including 07 dumpers and 02 excavator machines, which were involved in the unauthorized transportation of construction material. The operation was conducted in the Sahar Khad Sherpur area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Nagri Parole. During the night of 17th to 18th November 2023, a police team, led by Sub-Inspector Som Raj from Police Post Nagri, carried out patrolling and checking in the Sahar Khad Sherpur area. Acting under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters Kathua, Mr. Manjeet Singh, and Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Kathua, Inspector Ajay Singh Chib, the team identified and seized the vehicles involved in illegal mining operations. The seized vehicles include 07 dumpers with registration numbers JK16B-5479, JK08M-8750, JK08M-8732, JK16B-5789, JK16B-5841, JK08M-8709, JK08M-8752, along with 02 excavator machines. These vehicles were found engaged in the transportation of construction material without the necessary legal permissions. Following the seizure, all 09 vehicles involved in illegal mining were promptly handed over to the officials of the Geological and Mining Department in Kathua for further legal proceedings. This action by the Kathua Police reflects their commitment to curbing illegal mining activities and ensuring compliance with the law. |
