I&B minister takes live demonstrations, Foresees India's rise in Global Entertainment Industry | | | agencies NEW DELHI, Nov 21: In a move showcasing India's prowess in the media and entertainment sector, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Thakur, recently participated in live demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies, including a full-frame Cine Camera and VFX (Visual Effects) Technology. Expressing pride in India's phenomenal growth from the 10th to the 5th largest media and entertainment economy, Shri Thakur projected a future where India would soon claim the spot as the 3rd largest Media and Entertainment Industry globally. He attributed this potential ascent to the abundant talent and vast volume of film and media content produced within the country. Shri Thakur underscored India's attractiveness as a preferred destination for film shoots and post-production, backed by the exceptional talent of the youth, children, and the innovative prowess of industry leaders. Embracing new technological interventions in film production, the Minister emphasized India's status as a country of storytelling, where audiences appreciate immersive, creative, and original content. Highlighting the importance of technology in media and filmmaking, Shri Thakur urged content creators to leverage evolving technologies with a focus on both entertainment and education. He particularly emphasized the role of India as a hub for post-production, highlighting the significance of the newly established VFX and Tech Pavilion in further enhancing film post-production capabilities. During the virtual demonstration of VFX Technology, the Minister explored possibilities and advancements in moviemaking, including the creation of virtual worlds, intelligent characters, and personalized experiences. Esteemed brands such as Google Arts and Culture, Netflix, and Amazon were noted as participants, showcasing the collaborative efforts between the government and private sectors to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation in the industry. Thakur was accompanied by Neerja Sekhar, Additional Secretary, M/o I&B, and Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films), M/o I&B and MD, NFDC, during the event.
