Police arrests third accused in LPG gas pilferage case | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Nov 22: In a significant development, the Samba police have successfully apprehended the third accused involved in the LPG Gas pilferage case that was recently registered at Police Station Samba through Police Post Supwal. The third accused, identified as Dinesh Kumar, hailing from Moutliyan Kalan Utterbehni district Samba, was arrested in connection with case FIR No. 274/2023 under sections 3/7 EC Act, 406, 409, 120-B, 285, 413 IPC. The arrests follow an incident on the intervening night of November 15th and 16th, 2023, when two individuals were caught red-handed extracting gas from Indane Gas Tankers and transferring it into commercial cylinders at Village Chhajwal Barian. The newly apprehended third accused, Dinesh Kumar, is now in police custody. However, two accused drivers who fled from the scene upon noticing the police raid are still at large, prompting ongoing efforts by the police to locate and apprehend them. Investigation details reveal that the pilferage of gas from Indane gas tankers had been occurring consistently for over four months at the same location during the midnight hours. The pilferage operation targeted Indane gas tankers traveling from Punjab to Indane LPG Bottling Plant Bari Brahmana, Samba. The tankers were found to regularly visit Chhajwal Barian, Supwal Samba, during odd night hours for pilferage purposes. The ongoing investigation is being led by SHO Police Station Samba, Inspector Daljit Singh, and Chowki Officer Supwal, Deepika Jalotra, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Samba and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary. Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, assured that all individuals involved in the case would be swiftly apprehended, with police conducting raids at suspected locations to ensure their prompt arrest.
