SKUAST commences vocational training on high Throughput Analytical Techniques

JAMMU, Nov 22: A vocational training program focusing on "High Throughput Analytical Techniques for Phytonutrient Profiling" has commenced at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST - Jammu). The program, sponsored by NAHEP-IDP, ICAR New Delhi, was inaugurated by Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension and officiating Vice - Chancellor, SKUAST - Jammu, at the School of Biotechnology.
The training program has drawn participants from various faculties, including Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Horticulture & Agroforestry, and the School of Biotechnology. Prof. Gupta emphasized the significance of both basic and advanced techniques in phytonutrient analysis during the inauguration. He stressed that the primary objective of the training is to provide hands-on experience to participants, fostering a skilled mindset.
In addition to the inauguration, Prof. Gupta, along with other dignitaries, released the laboratory manual for the training program. The inaugural session witnessed the presence of Prof. S.E.H. Rizvi, Director Education and Dean, FoBS, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. R. Peshin, officiating Dean, FoA, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. R.K. Salgotra, Coordinator, School of Biotechnology, and faculty members from the School of Biotechnology.
Dr. G.K. Rai, Coordinator of the training program, highlighted that the program aims to update participants with the latest techniques and applications in phytonutrient analysis. The training content has been curated to provide the most recent knowledge and hands-on experience facilitated by experts in biochemistry and molecular biology. The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Susheel Sharma, the Co-coordinator of the training program.
