Smart Seeder Field demonstration promotes eco-friendly agriculture in Chinore | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 22: The Department of Agriculture Jammu took a significant step towards promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices by conducting a field demonstration of the Smart Seeder at the Seed Multiplication Farm (SM Farm), Chinore. The event was graced by the presence of Ram Savak (JKAS), Director Agriculture Jammu. Director Agriculture emphasized the collective responsibility of farmers in mitigating environmental pollution, particularly addressing the hazards associated with stubble burning. He urged farmers to adopt smart technologies, highlighting the role of the Smart Seeder in contributing to environmental sustainability. Underlining the importance of in-situ paddy residue management, Director Agriculture urged farmers to embrace such eco-friendly technologies for maintaining soil health and societal well-being. He commended the Smart Seeder for its outstanding performance in ensuring excellent germination, crop stand, and resilience to varying weather conditions. The field demonstration, guided by Er. Brij Rana (Assistant Agriculture Engineer) and Er. Dev Raj (Subject Matter Specialist - Farm Machinery), showcased the Smart Seeder's ability to precisely sow wheat seeds in a narrow band of soil. This technology ensures optimal seed placement by covering seed rows with soil using furrow closing rollers.
