Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 22: The University of Jammu's Department of Botany kicked off its M.Sc. induction program with a focus on holistic well-being, highlighting the importance of physical health for intellectual vitality. The event featured Roshan Jaggi (IFS), Principle Chief Conservator of Forests and HoFF, Jammu and Kashmir, as the chief guest. The program commenced with the symbolic plantation of significant tree species, Pterocarpus marsupium (Red Sandal Wood) and Mimusopselengi (Moulsari), in the internationally recognized Botanical Garden. Prof. Namrata Sharma introduced Jaggi, an esteemed alumnus, emphasizing his contributions to the field. Prof. VeenuKaul, Head of the Department, provided an overview of the department's achievements through a detailed presentation. Jaggi, in his address, stressed that the induction marked the start of a new academic session and urged all to remember the challenges faced in establishing the institution. Encouraging staff and faculty to contribute to building an institution of excellence, Jaggi motivated students to work diligently, highlighting their pivotal role in impacting ecology and the environment. He underscored the equal importance of physical well-being for maintaining intellectual health, mental peace, and ethical values. Affirming the forest department's full support for field studies and bio-resource explorations, Jaggi concluded his address. The event proceedings were conducted by Dr. Skarma Nonzom, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Romica Verma.
