Symposium on Juvenile Justice Act 2015: Empowering youth through legal awareness

JAMMU, Nov 23: The Department of Commerce at the Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, organized a Symposium on the "Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015" as part of the broader theme, "My Constitution, My Pride." The event, held in the college's Smart Classroom, aimed to enhance awareness about legal safeguards for non-adult offenders.
The symposium received wholehearted support from Dr. Surinder Kumar, the Principal of the college, emphasizing the institution's commitment to legal education and civic awareness.
Prof. Pawan Gupta, Head of the Department of Commerce, played a pivotal role in planning and organizing the event. He stressed the importance of following laws, policies, and procedures to ensure the fair treatment and legal protection of non-adult offenders.
Prof. Pawan Gupta highlighted that legal frameworks such as the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 are essential for regulating the processing and treatment of non-adult offenders. The emphasis was on providing legal protection to youth to shield them from unnecessary violence.
Anmol secured the first prize in the competition, while Gurpreet Singh secured the second position. The competition aimed to engage students in thoughtful discussions on the legal aspects of juvenile justice.
The competition was adjudged by Prof. Pawan Gupta and Prof. Binny Kumar. Other faculty members, including Dr. Jagmeet Kour, Dr. Fayza, Prof. Madhu Bala, and Prof. Heema Gupta, actively participated in the program.
Dr. Fayza skillfully conducted the proceedings of the event, ensuring its smooth flow. Dr. Roomi Rani delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers.
The symposium on the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 reflects the college's dedication to legal education and its role in empowering youth through awareness. Such initiatives contribute to fostering responsible citizenship and a deeper understanding of the legal frameworks that protect the rights of all individuals, including juveniles.
