Early Times Report RAMNAGAR, Dec 1: Government Degree College Ramnagar, in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club (RRC), organized a symposium competition on "World AIDS Day" on December 1st, aiming to spread awareness and combat HIV-related stigma. The event took place under the patronage of Principal Dr. Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, who emphasized the importance of eradicating stigma through increased awareness. Principal Dr. Bhavnaish Chand Anthal briefed the gathering on significant advances in medicine and research to combat the HIV epidemic. He encouraged students to play an active role in ending the stigma by creating more awareness among the masses. Prof. Ritika Mahajan, Convener of the RRC, interacted with students, stressing the need to educate people about the timely prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. A significant number of students enthusiastically participated in the symposium competition, judged by Prof. Sumita Rao (HOD Zoology), Prof. Swarna Devi (HOD Political Science), and Prof. Sonia Raj (Faculty Zoology). Vidyut Modi (Sem-I) secured the first position, followed by Arpit Bandral (Sem-I) in the second position and Preeti Devi (Sem-I) in the third position. Merit certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winners, while other participants received certificates of appreciation. The College Principal commended the committee members, including Prof. Ritika Mahajan (Convener), Dr. Divya Puri (HOD Psychology), and Prof. Naveed Hassan Choudhary (HOD Geology), for organizing such an informative session. He also appreciated the students for their active participation in spreading awareness about the epidemic of HIV/AIDS.
