GCPF addresses grievances of employees, pensioners | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 2: The General Category People's Front Jammu Kashmir (GCPF) convened a crucial meeting under the leadership of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front, to address the pressing concerns faced by the middle class, employees, and pensioners who, according to the Front, are experiencing neglect and deprivation. Expressing deep apprehension regarding the government's actions, Yash Paul Sanson, President of GCPF, asserted that the government seems oblivious to the ground realities and the challenges confronting the middle class, employees, and pensioners. The issues raised included the impact of heavy price-rise, unemployment, and the burden of taxes, fines, and fees on the common citizens. Sanson criticized the Government of India's schemes for allegedly favoring certain sections of society based on caste and class, leading to injustice for the middle class. He emphasized that the middle class, along with employees and pensioners, finds itself ensnared in a vicious cycle of neglect, marked by subsidies and appeasement policies for political gains, negatively affecting their socio-economic status. Som Nath Sharma, General Secretary of the Front, expressed regret over the prolonged non-redressal of grievances, discrimination, inequalities, and injustices faced by the middle class. He highlighted issues such as the stagnant medical allowance for employees and pensioners at Rs. 300, delays in due DA installments, and the absence of welfare schemes initiated by the L.G. Administration. Indicating a potential shift towards electoral politics, Mr. Sharma emphasized the need to address poverty as a societal concern and advocated for providing reservations based on economic criteria. During the meeting, Jagdish Dogra, ex-president of Sanatan Sabha, Jammu, called for the formation of a "Hindu Temples and Shrines Prabhamik Board" with a representative character to oversee the administrative affairs for better management of Hindu Temples and Shrines. He advocated for the elected bodies to take control of the administrative affairs, urging an end to government interference, similar to the approach taken in the case of other religions. The meeting witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Bansi Lal Deepak Khajuria, V.K. Sharma, Surinder Kumar, Kewel Sharma, Gopal Dass Verma, Bhushan Pargal, and Ravi Sawhney, who actively participated in addressing the concerns and grievances raised by the General Category People's Front Jammu Kashmir. |
