Surankote, Dec 4: The Government Degree College (GDC) Surankote, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, NSS unit, and Women Development Cell, orchestrated a noteworthy one-day international seminar titled “My Constitution My Pride.” The event, held on December 4, 2023, also featured a valedictory function, showcasing meticulous coordination under the adept leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rani Mughal. Distinguished guests graced the occasion, with Sheikh Zulfaqar Azad (JKPS), Dy. Director Police Academy, serving as the chief guest. The event also welcomed esteemed guests of honor, including Prof. (Dr.) Jasbir Singh, Principal SKCGDC Poonch, Advocate Tabassum Mughal from Malaysia, Prof. Ghulam Abbas, HOD Botany GDC Poonch, Prof. Asadullah Khan, HOD Chemistry GDC Poonch, Mr. Bashir Mughal, and Arif Hussain Kazmi. Special guests included Dr. Khalil Ahmed, HOD Urdu of GDC Poonch, Prof. Khaliq Ahmed, HOD Sociology GPG Rajouri, Prof. Aafia Zaman, and Prof. Waseem ul Haq from GDC Poonch. The program commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the distinguished guests, followed by the NSS volunteers presenting the College Tarana. Dr. Mussarat Jabeen delivered the opening address, extending a warm welcome to the esteemed dignitaries, while Prof. Adnan Ali Shah skillfully hosted the entire event. Prof. Fatima, NSS officer, presented a comprehensive report on the various activities conducted under the initiative “My Constitution My Pride.” Jenab Sheikh Zulfaqar Azad (JKPS), Dy. Director Police Academy, delivered an expert talk emphasizing the importance of aim, belief, and expectations. He highlighted the significance of maintaining calm, energy, and self-control during challenging times. Stressing on the need for clarity of thought and a positive mindset, he encouraged students to cancel out negative thoughts. Advocate Tabassum Mughal, in her address, delved into the preamble of the constitution, outlining its fundamental values, objectives, and guiding principles. Prof. (Dr.) Jasbir Singh shared insights into his tenure at the college, emphasizing healthy teacher-student relationships and the importance of adhering to values and respecting teachers. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, lecturer in Urdu, showcased his poetic talent by reciting verses dedicated to the respected Principal Prof. Dr. Rani Mughal, encapsulating her personality through Urdu poetry. The international seminar provided a platform for intellectual discourse on constitutional values and principles, fostering a sense of pride and awareness among the participants. |
