| GGM Science College celebrate International Year of Millets | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 14: NCC cadets of the Senior Wing of GGM Science College, Jammu, celebrated the International Year of Millets 2023 with a series of events under the guidance of Principal Prof. Rajesh Gupta and ANO Dr. Shafia Saleem. Over 40 cadets from 2J&K Girls BN participated, aiming to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets and their significance in sustainable agriculture.
The program began with informative lectures by cadets Kashish and Ashvi, highlighting the importance of millets for a balanced diet and their positive environmental impact. Students actively participated, gaining valuable knowledge about how millets can address global food challenges.
An essay writing competition further emphasized the theme, with cadets Munakshi, Pritty, and Amisha bagging the top three positions.
Creativity took center stage with a poster-making competition, where cadets Bhavanshi, Shikha, and Archita showcased their artistic talents by crafting engaging posters about millets. The posters were judged by faculty members Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Prof. Meena Gupta, and Prof. Preeti Gupta.
The celebration culminated in a dynamic Millets Awareness Rally, aimed at promoting the consumption of millets for a healthier life and raising public awareness about their benefits.
Principal Prof. Rajesh Gupta and ANO Dr. Shafia Saleem commended the cadets' hard work and dedication throughout the celebration, which spanned from December 1st to 14th. This initiative effectively resonated with the global effort to recognize the importance of millets and promote their widespread adoption. |
