Police officers enhance soft skills in "Effective Communication" course | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 14: Fourteen officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police embarked on a 3-day intensive program today at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) focused on developing "Effective Communication, Skills, Behaviour, Attitude, and Responsibility towards the General Public." Emotional Intelligence: The program delves into the framework of emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, emotional self-control, and effective expression. Stress and Time Management: It equips officers with skills for self-leadership within the police organization, including managing stress and time effectively. Behavioural and Attitudinal Development: The program addresses aspects like managing change, self-improvement, and cultivating positive behaviours and attitudes towards the general public. Communication Skills: Emphasis is placed on enhancing communication skills for conveying information clearly, managing conflict situations, and building rapport with the community. Organizational Productivity: The course aims to improve overall organizational productivity within the police force through effective communication and team dynamics. Eminent faculty members from various academic institutions have been invited to conduct sessions and ensure the program's success. The inaugural function was graced by Shri Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor), as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the critical importance of police officers adapting their behaviour and attitude towards the public, highlighting the power of effective communication in building trust and resolving conflict. Sukhvir Singh, Dy.SP, AD(Admn), oversees the course's coordination, with assistance from SI Irshad Ahmed, a faculty member. This initiative by the SKPA recognizes the importance of soft skills and emotional intelligence in modern policing. By equipping officers with these essential skills, the program aims to enhance communication, improve community relations, and ultimately contribute to a more effective and responsive police force in Jammu and Kashmir. |
