J&K police officers complete three-day course

UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: A comprehensive three-day course on "Developing Effective Communication Skills, Behavior, Attitude, and Responsibility towards the General Public" concluded today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) in Udhampur. The program, which commenced on 14th December 2023, saw enthusiastic participation from fourteen officers of the J&K Police.
The course aimed at equipping participants with essential skills in emotional intelligence, self-awareness, emotional self-control, expression, soft skills, and their relevance to the police profession. Diverse topics were covered, including stress and time management, behavioral and attitudinal aspects in managing organizational change within police structures, self-improvement, effective communication, core communication skills, the role of media in enhancing police-public relations, and professional ethics and human values.
A valedictory function marked the conclusion of the course, featuring Shri Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor Trg) as the chief guest. During his address, Sh. Gupta emphasized the critical aspects covered, highlighting the importance of effective communication, positive behavior, the right attitude, and responsibility towards the general public.
Gupta encouraged the participants to recognize the far-reaching impact of the acquired skills, extending beyond the training room and contributing positively to society. He urged them to become ambassadors of positive change, fostering understanding and empathy in their interactions. The chief guest underscored the responsibility that accompanies effective communication, emphasizing its power to shape the world.
Acknowledging the ongoing journey towards becoming better communicators and responsible individuals, Gupta expressed confidence that each participant would play a significant role in creating a more connected and harmonious community.
The course featured eminent speakers from various academia, including Ms. Swati Basotra (Visiting Faculty, IIT Jammu), Dr. Rashi Taggar (Asstt. Prof., SMVDU Katra), Dr. Karan Nathwani (Asst Professor, IIT Jammu), Dr. Nilika Arora (Asstt. Prof., Central University of Jammu), Dr. Ankita Choudhary (Child Psychologist, Department of Paediatrics, GMC Doda), and Dr. Mahesh Koul (Asstt. Professor, Division of Agricultural Economics and ABM of SKUAST Main campus Chatta Jammu), who shared their valuable experiences and knowledge with the participants.
The coordination of the course was led by Sh. Sukhvir Singh, Dy.SP, AD(Admn), with assistance from SI Irshad Ahmed. The participants expressed gratitude for the enriching experience, pledging to apply the acquired skills in their professional and personal lives for the betterment of the community.
