Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 16: MIER College of Education (Autonomous) organized a one-day international conference on "Open and Digital Learning: Prospects and Challenges" on December 16, 2023. The event brought together prominent academicians, administrators, policymakers, and scholars from various parts of the country to discuss innovations, trends, and challenges in the realm of open and digital learning. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, while Prof. Ramesh Chander Sharma, Director Human Resource Development Centre, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The conference, conducted in a blended mode, attracted participants from Jammu and Kashmir as well as different parts of the country. Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER Group of Institutions, welcomed the dignitaries, keynote speakers, paper presenters, and participants, both online and offline. Addressing the theme of the conference, she highlighted the global impact of e-learning, emphasizing its role in revolutionizing the education system by providing flexibility and accessibility to educational content. Dr. Gupta placed emphasis on the importance of integrating online and offline learning for a harmonized educational experience. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College, elaborated on the conference's objectives, focusing on themes such as the current status of open and digital learning in India, best practices globally, pedagogical interventions, skill development, technology-enhanced learning initiatives, research trends, and the role of digital universities. In his inaugural keynote address, Prof. Ramesh C. Sharma emphasized the paramount importance of learning resilience in the digital era. He highlighted the need for adaptability and tenacity in the face of rapid technological advancements, advocating for a growth mindset to view challenges as opportunities for learning and improvement. Prof. Sharma shared insights into various digital tools, such as mysteryscience, braingame, and virbela, to enhance the learning process. Prof. Anju Bhasin, in her Presidential Remarks, acknowledged the challenges of transitioning from traditional face-to-face models to online models.
