All India Jat MahaSabha urges Govt to provide OBC Status, land rights to Jammu Jats | | | Early Times Report NOWSHERA, Dec 18: The All India Jat Maha Sabha, Jammu & Kashmir (AIJMS), today urged the Central Government to fulfill its commitment of granting Other Backward Class (OBC) status to the Jat community residing in the border areas of Jammu region. The Sabha also demanded ownership rights for custodian land that Jat community members have cultivated for over 60 years. The demands were voiced at a daylong Jat Maha Sammelan held in Nowshera, in which Ch Manmohan Singh, President of AIJMS and former Mayor, was the Chief Guest. The event saw prominent figures like Sub. Gian Chand Mentor, President Ch Koshal, Chairman AIJMS Col R L Gangaal, Youth President Ajay Choudhary, General Secretary Bindu Choudhary, Ritesh Choudhary, Ch Varinder Chohan, Sarpanch Anita Choudhary, Sarpanch Romesh Choudhary, Sarpanch Bhadhur Nath Choudhary, Balbir Choudhary, Roshan Choudhary, Dwarka Choudhary, Babloo Choudhary, Rajesh Choudhary, Rattan Choudhary, Yash Choudhary, Narain Choudhary, youth leader Sd. Ranjit Singh Goldi, Sd Amanjeet Singh President Kashmir AIJMS Unit participated and reiterated the community's longstanding demands. Addressing the gathering, Ch Manmohan Singh highlighted the extensive efforts of Jat Maha Sabha has undertaken through rallies and Sammelans for getting OBC status and ownership rights of custodian land provided to the members of Jat community land at the time of their migration. He said that the lack of ownership rights for custodian land in possession of Jats for generations was a serious concern. Ch Manmohan Singh urged the government to find a solution that safeguards the community's land rights. He warned that the Jat community could take action against the government in the upcoming elections if their concerns remain unaddressed. In a powerful address echoing through the Nowshera Sammelan, Ch Manmohan Singh rallied the community with a stark message: Unity is the bedrock of their success. He declared, "Only through unwavering solidarity can we secure the OBC status we deserve and reclaim the ownership rights of our lands held for generations!" Ch Manmohan Singh encouraged the community members to prioritize education for their children, ensuring their future success in a competitive environment. He asked the community's youth to respect their elders who tirelessly strive to provide them better education for their bright future. Col. Roshan Lal, another speaker, showcased AIJMS' commitment to community support. He lauded the Sabha's efforts in assisting victims like Rajat, a young man who lost his hand in a blast and received crucial medical treatment by Dr Amandeep Singh at Amandeep Hospital Amritsar and accommodation in Amritsar with AIJMS' support. He mentioned that Ch Manmohan Singh has provide a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Rajat family for the medical treatment. Similarly, Ajay Choudhary, Youth President of Nowshera, acknowledged the Sabha's financial assistance provided to Mahindra Lal for his medical treatment after a severe injury due to HT wires. He mentioned that the Jat Maha Sabha has provided an amount of Rs 4 lakhs to the family for the medical treatment. The Sammelan concluded with a call for unity and continued pursuit of the Jats' rightful claims. Later, Ch Manmohan Singh also released the calendar of Dhanna Jat and assured full support in constructing the temple of Dhanna Jat as per the wishes of the community members. |
