Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: In a significant move towards fostering a safe and inclusive campus environment, Government Polytechnic Jammu recently organized a seminar on the "Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace." The initiative, aimed at ensuring the well-being of female faculty, staff, and students, featured Shaheen Wahid (JKPS), SP South Jammu, as the resource person. The seminar, inaugurated by Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of Government Polytechnic Jammu, emphasized the grave impact of sexual harassment on individuals, both mentally and physically, and underscored the importance of creating a workplace free from discrimination. Er. Bangotra urged attendees to promptly address and report any incidents of harassment. Shaheen Wahid, in her address, delved into various aspects related to the hearing and addressing of complaints concerning sexual harassment. She shed light on the Sexual Harassment of Workplace Act, 2013, elucidating the timelines and procedures of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). Wahid highlighted the significance of body language in understanding individuals' feelings and encouraged proactive reporting of incidents. The seminar, coordinated by Er. Rani Devi (HoD Computer Engineering), Er. Sakshi Kapahi (I&C Department), and Ar. Manu Rajput (Architecture Department), provided insights into the functioning of the ICC and aimed to raise awareness about gender-related issues. Participants were informed about the process of filing complaints at police stations, with an emphasis on the importance of speaking up and reporting any untoward incidents.
