GCPF demands economic criteria for reservation, administrative autonomy for Temples in J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 19: The General Category People's Front (GCPF) convened a crucial meeting under the leadership of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front, to address pressing issues concerning the middle class, employees, and pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir. The discussions centered around the neglect and deprivation faced by these sections of society. Expressing deep concern, Yash Paul Sanson, President of the GCPF, criticized the government for its alleged ignorance of the ground realities and the challenges encountered by the middle class, employees, and pensioners. He highlighted the impact of heavy price rises, unemployment, and burdensome taxes, fines, and fees on these segments of the population. Sanson accused the government of unfairly taxing the middle class while providing relief to others based on caste and class considerations. The President asserted that middle-class employees and pensioners find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle of neglect and deprivation due to subsidies and vote bank appeasement policies. He called attention to the negative socio-economic consequences faced by the middle class and demanded the release of the due 18-month DA installment for employees and pensioners. Additionally, he lamented the absence of any welfare schemes by the L.G. Administration. Som Nath Sharma, General Secretary of the GCPF, expressed regret over the persistent non-redressal of grievances and injustices faced by the middle class. He criticized the government for selling amenities like a businessman and hinted at the Front's potential entry into electoral politics.
