Training programme on onion cultivation held | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Dec 19: One day training programme on scientific cultivation and management of onion was today held at Panchayat Bugrana of the district by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu under the guidance of Dr B.N. Tripathi, Vice chancellor SKUAST Jammu. Dr Narinder Paul, I/c KVK Kishtwar organized the programme in collaboration with Amjad Hussain Malik Chief Agriculture Officer Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers welfare Kishtwar under the overall supervision of Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme aimed at promotion of scientific cultivation and management practices of onion crop in the district for increasing productivity. During the programme the participants were trained about spacing, time of transplanting, nutritional requirement of the crop, pest and disease and other agronomic practices and scientific techniques of cultivation and management of onion crop. Method demonstration on line transplanting and spacing was also conducted before the participants on the farmer's field for hands on training and practical exposure of the participants. 30 farmers and farmwomen including Wali Mohd, Farooq Ahmad, Sandeep Kumar, Jalal Din, Imtiaz Ahmad, Zakir Hussain, Des Raj attended the programme. At the end of the programme hybrid onion seedlings were also distributed among the participants. |
