Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 19: Raman Suri, an Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recent inclusive decision of the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The decision extends the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) benefits to Jammu and Kashmir Government pensioners, marking a significant step towards enhanced healthcare access. In a statement issued, Raman Suri noted that traditionally, only Central Government employees and pensioners were entitled to CGHS benefits. However, the recent order from the union government expands the scheme to include pensioners from the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, representing a progressive move. Suri emphasized the significance of this decision in ensuring the welfare of J&K UT pensioners, stating that the CGHS, covering medical systems such as Allopathy, Ayurvedic, Unani, Homeopathy, Indian System of Medicine, Siddha & Yoga, will now be accessible to a broader demographic. Drawing attention to upcoming awareness camps organized by CGHS officials across the UT, Suri highlighted their purpose: to educate pensioners about the benefits of CGHS and guide them on effective utilization of the Central Government Health Scheme. The CGHS encompasses a range of benefits, including OPD treatment and medication charges, indoor treatment, diagnostic services at government or CGHS-affiliated hospitals, child health services, family welfare, medical advice, and distribution of medicines. The scheme covers various treatments and procedures in Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics. Raman Suri praised the Union Ministry's thoughtful step, underscoring the importance of seizing this opportunity for improved healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir. The extension of CGHS facilities to pensioners is expected to contribute significantly to the overall well-being of the UT's residents. |
