Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 20: The Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir is set to make its mark at the 27th National Sport Climbing Championship in Bengaluru from December 21st to 24th, 2023, as a formidable five-member team departs today from Delhi to represent the North Zone. Prior to their departure, two standout climbers from J&K, Shivani Charak and Arun Deep Singh, underwent intensive coaching for 21 days under the guidance of a national coach. The coaching sessions took place at the International standard climbing walls at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and a climbing gym in Delhi. Meanwhile, the other three members of the team, Shilpa Charak, Ankit Singh, and Kaffeel Ul Haq, participated in a coaching camp held in Jammu and Srinagar. Shivani Charak, the current top-ranked climber in the Women's category nationwide, is poised as a potential medalist in Lead climbing and Bouldering. She is also determined to improve her performance in Speed Climbing, where she narrowly missed a medal last year. Arun Deep Singh, a dominant force at the Zonal level, aims to showcase his talents at the national level and bring laurels to the J&K Union Territory. Among the team members, Kaffeel Ul Haq is anticipated to secure a podium finish in Lead climbing and Bouldering, adding to the high expectations for a successful campaign in Bengaluru. The Mountaineering Association expresses confidence in the entire team's capabilities and is optimistic about their potential to make a significant impact at the national championship.
