| GDC Darhal celebrates National Mathematics Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: Govt. Degree College Darhal marked the 136th birth anniversary of the renowned mathematician S. Ramanujan by celebrating National Mathematics Day as a part of the Viksit Bharat @2047 initiative. The event took place on December 22, 2023, and featured an intra-college symposium themed "Mathematics for Everyone." Symposium on "Mathematics for Everyone": An intra-college symposium was organized on the occasion, inviting students to explore and share their insights on the relevance and applicability of mathematics in various aspects of life. Chief guest and Coordinator: Prof. Mussaraf H. Shah, the Principal of the college, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Mohd Akhlaq, Head of the Department of Mathematics, coordinated the event. Keynote Address by Prof. Shah: Prof. Shah delivered a keynote address, shedding light on the remarkable contributions of S. Ramanujan to the field of mathematics. He highlighted Ramanujan's genius work, discovering thousands of equations and results independently within a short lifespan of 33 years. Importance of Mathematics: Prof. Shah emphasized the significance of mathematics as a foundational discipline, applauding Ramanujan's work as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time. He stressed the need for the promotion of mathematics at all educational levels, considering its paramount importance in contemporary life.
