GDC Ramgarh propagates awareness for Punjabi language | | | Early Times Report RAMGARH, Dec 22: Government Degree College, Ramgarh, took a significant step towards promoting linguistic heritage by conducting an Awareness Programme for the propagation of Punjabi Language on December 22, 2023. The event, themed "Celebrating our Heritage," was organized under the banner of "Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Voice of Youth." The Awareness Programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College. The initiative aimed to align with the honorable Prime Minister's vision of actively involving the youth in making India a developed nation by 2047. The event commenced with an introductory lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Snobar, Head of the Department of Punjabi. She highlighted the relevance and applicability of Punjabi language, emphasizing its inclusion among the 22 official languages in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.Prof. Snobar underscored the cultural and historical importance of Punjabi language, emphasizing its role in day-to-day conversations, its relevance in state and national-level competitive exams, and its contribution to shaping India's multi-cultural identity.The lecture acknowledged the crucial role played by local and national Punjabi writers in propagating the language. Prof. Snobar appreciated their literary works and highlighted the significance of promoting Punjabi and other regional languages to break free from colonial mindsets.The activity also featured a poster-making competition, drawing enthusiastic participation from a large number of students. The competition aimed to foster awareness about the relevance of local and native languages and encouraged students to actively engage in activities leading to the promotion of national languages and mother tongues.The faculty members present, including Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Brham Dutt, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, Priya Sharma, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmed, Dr. Paramjeet Kour, Dr. Ekta Rani, Fayaz Ahmed, Sonali Dutta, Anil Sharma, Ram Murti, and Baby Sharma, contributed to the success of the event.
