| Seminar cum awareness programme on holistic development of vegetables held | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: The Directorate of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu organized a one-day Seminar Cum Awareness Programme on the holistic development of vegetables under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). The event took place at Kissan Kendra, Talab Tillo, Jammu, with Ram Savak, Director Agriculture Jammu, as the Chief Guest. Over 150 progressive farmers and vegetable growers participated in the program. R.K. Hitaishi, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), welcomed the participants and explained the objective of the program, emphasizing the importance of vegetable cultivation in income and employment generation. A.S. Reen, Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs), encouraged vegetable growers to practice organic cultivation for safe human consumption. He highlighted the production of off-season vegetables through Protective Cultivation Technology and underscored the significance of vegetables for human health and well-being. Jagdish Chander Raina, Jammu Agronomist, provided a brief overview of the Vegetable Improvement Scheme in Jammu for the welfare of vegetable growers. He discussed the scope and potential of vegetable cultivation in response to increasing consumer demand and favorable agroclimatic conditions in Jammu division.
