Jammu, Dec 23: Mahajan Sewa Sangh Charitable Trust, led by Neeraj Gupta, President of MSS, organized a program at Court Road, Janipur, to pay tribute to the first Prime Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, on his birth anniversary. The event witnessed the participation of senior and respected members from various sections of society, including women and children. Mr. Gupta highlighted that Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, born on December 23, 1889, in Kangra, Punjab (now Himachal Pradesh), played a pivotal role in the accession of J&K to India. He served as the first Prime Minister of Jammu & Kashmir during October 15, 1947, to March 5, 1948, under the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh, contributing significantly to the region’s integration with India. Additionally, he served as the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India and was a notable social activist and writer, working for the welfare of the people. Mr. Gupta expressed concern about the lack of recognition for national heroes and suggested that the government should declare a holiday on the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of J&K.
