Bengaluru, Dec 23: Shivani Charak, an international sport climber from Jammu and Kashmir, made a remarkable start for J&K by winning a silver medal in Lead climbing in the women’s category on the first day of the 27th IMF Sport Climbing Championship. The event is being organized by the General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure at Yavanika, Bengaluru. Anisha Verma, an international climber from Jharkhand, claimed the gold medal, securing the top position in the semifinals. In an intense final round, both Shivani and Anisha successfully scaled the 50ft high climbing wall, leading to a tie. However, as Anisha had secured the top rank in the semifinals, she was declared the winner, and Shivani Charak achieved the second place. Saniya Farooque Sheikh, another international climber from Maharashtra, secured the third position. Shivani Charak also advanced to the final round in the Bouldering competition, securing the third place among the six finalists in the Women’s category. The final round for Bouldering is scheduled for the evening. Arun Deep Singh, another strong climber from Jammu and Kashmir, narrowly missed qualifying for the final round in both Lead Climbing and Bouldering. He secured the 9th and 7th place, respectively, with only the top 8 and 6 climbers qualifying for the final round. |
