Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 24: Under the NAHEP-IDP initiative, SKUAST-Jammu organized a comprehensive week-long vocational training program focusing on Entrepreneurship Development through Hi-Tech Mushroom Cultivation and Spawn Production. Aimed at students, the training aimed to motivate and equip them with essential skills in the lucrative field of mushroom cultivation. The primary objectives of the program were to inspire students and provide them hands-on training in various aspects of mushroom cultivation and spawn production. Throughout the week, participants delved into substrate preparation, spawning, crop care, harvesting techniques, and value addition processes for mushrooms. Additionally, the training covered the crucial area of quality spawn production. The expertise of renowned professionals from institutions such as ICAR-IIHR Bengaluru, CSKHPKV Palampur, SKUAST-K, SKUAST-J, and the University of Jammu enriched the training. Lectures and practical sessions were conducted, offering a holistic learning experience for the participants. The program, conducted under the supervision of Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Vikas Sharma, PI, and Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP, and Dr. Amrish Vaid, Prof. & Head, Div. of Plant Pathology, saw active participation. Dr. Sachin Gupta, Professor, Division of Plant Pathology, served as the course coordinator. Encouragingly, participants displayed keen interest in acquiring the skills associated with mushroom cultivation and spawn production. The organizers expressed hope that this initiative would inspire participants to consider these skills as potential sources of employment, aligning with the vision of the New Education Policy to create job providers rather than job seekers among the youth. The training program aimed not only to impart knowledge but also to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. |
