Christmas celebration and Wushu Championship thrill Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 25: The Indoor Complex at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu witnessed the excitement of the 4th day of the Wushu Championship, where Sub Junior and Junior boys and girls showcased their skills in bouts for the yellow medal. In a delightful twist, Wushu players also joined in the Christmas celebrations during the event. The young athletes, along with the executive office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K, marked the festive occasion by cutting a Christmas cake. Shri Ranjeet Kalra, member JKSC, and Shri Kuldeep Handoo took part in the Christmas festivities, distributing gifts among the winners and extending warm wishes for Merry Christmas. Shri Kalra appreciated the Wushu Association of J&K for their significant contribution to promoting Wushu across the Union Territory. The ongoing 17th UT J&K Wushu Championship, spanning 5 days, saw participation from 19 districts, 5 Khelo India centres, and J&K Police. The results of the Day 4 matches on December 25, 2023, are as follows: Under 12 Years Below 52 kg (Girls): lGold: Sadiya Zehra (Bandipora) lSilver: Sania Zehra (Bandipora) lBronze: Ayushi Thapa (Nagbani) lBronze: Rukaya Bilal (Bandipora) Under 14 Years Below 20 kg (Boys): lGold: Balvinder Kumar (Akhnoor) lSilver: Dakish Raina (Anantnag) lBronze: Danish Maqbool (May Fair School, Jammu) lBronze: Paras Yadav (Samba) ... and so on for various weight categories and genders. The closing ceremony and presentation ceremony are scheduled for tomorrow at 4 PM, with Ms. Nuzhat Gull, Secretary J&K Sports Council, as the Chief Guest. The championship has not only showcased the athletic prowess of the participants but has also added a festive touch with the Christmas celebration, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the Wushu community. |
