Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 26: In an exhilarating adventure, 144 students, including 80 girls, from Oriental Academy Sr. Secondary School, Jammu, participated in the "One Day Short Treks Series Programme" organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K. The trek took place in the Mansar-Mohoregarh area, showcasing the spirit of adventure and love for nature among the young participants. Led by experienced mountaineer Sonam Sidharth and accompanied by teachers, including Principal Vivek Chauhan, the group embarked on a 4-kilometer soft trek in the Mansar-Mohoregarh area. The young trekkers, with an average age of about 12 years, enjoyed breathtaking views of the serene lake and the pristine beauty of Mother Nature. The adventure didn't end with the trek; the students also visited the local zoo maintained by the Department of Wildlife Protection. Here, they observed various beautiful birds and wild animals, gaining insights into their habitats and behavior. This event marked the participation of 487 students in the "One Day Short Treks Series Programme," with a significant number being girls. The initiative aims to "Catch Them Young" and instill in the young minds a spirit of adventure, a love for nature, and a sense of self-confidence. The program has seen overwhelming participation, emphasizing the importance of nurturing bold and responsible future leaders for the country.
