SAMBA, Dec 26: In a significant development, the Samba police successfully arrested a hardcore criminal and seized a country-made pistol from his possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur. The arrested individual has been identified as Vishal Sharma, son of Sat Pal Sharma, residing in Raja Chack, Tehsil Akhnoor, district Jammu.
A case, FIR No.188/2023 u/s 3/25 Arms Act, has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur, and the investigation is currently underway to uncover further details.
This is not the first encounter with the law for Vishal Sharma. Two additional cases of attempt to murder, Arms Act, and assault under FIR No. 269/2019 u/s 353/332 IPC (now challaned) and FIR No. 43/2023 u/s 307/451/147/148/504/506/323 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act (now challaned), were previously registered at Police Station Akhnoor against him in the years 2019 and 2023, respectively.
The arrest took place at a special checkpoint near the BDO office, set up by the police station Vijaypur.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Benam Tosh, revealed that a total of one hundred and fifty-six (156) hardcore criminals have been apprehended by Samba police in the past eleven months. He emphasized that stringent legal actions are being taken against criminals, miscreants, and elements engaging in unlawful activities within the district.
