Early Times Report KATRA, Dec 29: A spirited five-day trekking camp, organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Zone Akhnoor, concluded today in the sacred city of Katra. The event, conducted under the guidance of District Youth Service and Sports Officer Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, and overall supervision by Ashok Kumar, Incharge ZPEO Akhnoor, proved to be a memorable and enriching experience for the 120 participating students, both boys and girls, along with field staff from various institutions within Zone-Akhnoor. The five-day expedition was ceremoniously flagged off on December 25, 2023, by Station House Officer Akhnoor, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq. The trekking camp aimed to impart basic adventure skills to the participants while exploring the picturesque locales of Baba Aghore Jito, Nau Devi Cave Temple, and Mata Vaishnodevi Temple. During the camp, the participants were engaged in a range of activities, including a Painting competition, Rangoli competition, Nature Treasure Hunt, Singing Patriotic Songs, Photography, and local dance. These activities not only added a recreational dimension to the expedition but also contributed to the holistic development of the participants. Speaking on the occasion, ZPEO Akhnoor highlighted the significance of exposing school children to various physical and recreational activities, fostering an environment beyond traditional sports. He emphasized that such initiatives are essential for the overall well-being and development of the youth. The camp concluded, a Medal ceremony recognized the participants' achievements and contributions. Expressing their happiness, the trekkers conveyed their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Akhnoor, for organizing the rejuvenating and skill-building expedition.
