Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 5: The Veterinary section of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) carried out a public drive for the impounding of animals today, following the directives of Commissioner Mr. Rahul Yadav. Dr. Divya Sharma, Municipal Veterinary Officer (MVO) at JMC, supervised the operation along with the MVO section team. The drive included counseling sessions for the general public on the proper management of stray, pet, and large animals during the ongoing winter season. Various areas of Jammu city, such as Vikram Chowk, Panama Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Narwal, Bhatindi, Channi Himmat, Sainik Colony, Greater Kailash, Kunjwani, among others, were covered in this initiative. During the extensive drive, the public received guidance on managing stray animals during the winter season. Citizens were urged not to release their animals on roads, as this practice can lead to serious accidents, especially in the prevailing foggy and winter conditions. Additionally, free-roaming animals contribute to traffic congestion in different parts of Jammu city. Dr. Divya Sharma, Municipal Veterinary Officer, appealed to the public, especially cattle owners, not to allow their animals to roam freely on roads, as this can result in damage to public property, harm to citizens, and pose risks to the animals themselves. Strict instructions were issued to those who let their animals roam on roads and in parks.
