Kishtwar, Jan 5: In a proactive operation named "Kamdhenu," Kishtwar Police, particularly PS Atholi, successfully thwarted a bovine smuggling attempt, resulting in the rescue of 07 bovine animals and the apprehension of two smugglers in the Padder area. Acting on precise information, a dedicated team led by Inspector Vikram Parihar, SHO PS Atholi, and supervised by SDPO Atholi, established a strategic checkpoint. During vehicle and pedestrian checks, the police intercepted two individuals who were transporting bovine animals on foot, displaying cruelty and disregard for the animals' welfare. The accused were found transporting the bovines from Himachal Pradesh (HP) to Kashmir without the necessary permissions or documentation. As a result, FIR Nos. 01/2024 have been filed under relevant sections of the law at PS Atholi, and a thorough investigation is currently in progress.
