PULWAMA, Jan 8: In a significant development, Mohammad Hussain Andravi, a fervent sports enthusiast, has been unanimously elected as the President of the District Mountaineering Association in Pulwama. The election meeting held today saw Syed Abdul Mohsin, a highly trained and experienced mountaineer, securing the position of General Secretary.
The newly formed executive body includes Shakir Maqbool as Vice President, Yawar Ahmad Reshi as Joint Secretary, and Mir Saima as Treasurer, each elected unanimously in their respective roles. Additionally, the Executive body comprises Sabiya Jan, Mohd Ashraf Sofi, Masood Ahmad Rather, Aqeel Ul Islam, and Sonia Jan, all elected unanimously as members.
Khursheed Ahmad Laigaroo, Vice President of Mountaineering Association of J&K, served as the observer from the Mountaineering Association of J&K, while Syed Mukhtar Andravi, a reputed social worker from Pulwama, served as the Returning Officer for the election.
Addressing the members, Syed Abdul Mohsin expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and outlined plans to organize sport climbing and trekking programs for young children. He emphasized the Association's commitment to promoting adventure activities, especially sport climbing, with the goal of producing national champions and international climbers.
Khursheed Ahmad, Vice President of Mountaineering Association of J&K, commended the smooth conduct of the elections and assured the Association's full support for the promotion of adventure activities in Pulwama district. The election results mark a positive step towards fostering a vibrant mountaineering community in the region under the leadership of Mohammad Hussain Andravi and the newly elected executive team.
