JAMMU, Jan 10: In a significant development, Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, a prominent businessman and sports promoter from Naroo village, Badgam, has been unanimously elected as the President of the District Mountaineering Association, Budgam. The election meeting, held in Budgam, also saw the election of Syed Hussain Andravi as General Secretary, Altaf Hussain Ganie as Vice President, and Ultaf Farooq and Myser Karim as Joint Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
The Executive body, comprising Owais Ahmad Bhat, Irfan Akber Dar, Mohd Rafi Dar, Istiyaq Mushtaq, and Sobia Nabi, was also unanimously elected. The election, observed by Syed Abdul Mohsin, Joint Secretary (K) of Mountaineering Association of J&K, had Tariq Ahmad Dar, a respected social personality of Budgam, as the Returning Officer.
Syed Hussain Andravi, the newly elected General Secretary, expressed gratitude to the members for their trust and pledged to make Budgam a trekking hub in J&K. He emphasized his commitment to organizing trekking activities in the district.
Syed Abdul Mohsin commended the enthusiastic participation of representatives from various adventure clubs in Budgam.
