Jammu, Jan 14: A solemn Sharadhanjali function marked the 99th Birth Anniversary of Thakur Baldev Singh Chib, former President of Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha, in his native village of Satrayan (R S Pura). The event, presided over by R S Chib, Former Minister, saw the gathering of numerous dignitaries who paid heartfelt tributes to the late Thakur Baldev Singh. In his address, Mr. Chib eulogized Thakur Baldev Singh Chib as a saintly figure, a distinguished social activist, and an embodiment of simplicity. Highlighting Thakur Baldev Singh’s literary contributions, Mr. Chib noted that the late leader authored over seven books on various subjects. Several prominent personalities, including Prof. Jai Singh, Sarpanch Gurdyal Singh Majotra, Prof. Sohan Singh, Lecturer Rajdev Singh, Arjun Singh, Kehar Singh, Bhagat Darshan Lal, Raghunath Singh (Ex. Sarpanch), and Panch Roshan Singh, paid their respects and shed light on Thakur Baldev Singh’s significant contributions to the social field. The gathering concluded the solemn event by celebrating Lohri, a tradition that has become an annual ritual in remembrance of Thakur Baldev Singh Chib. The festivities included the lighting of the Lohri fire, accompanied by the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra. Thakur Baldev Singh Chib, during his lifetime, was known for celebrating Lohri with the children of the area, and the community continues to honor this tradition every year on his birth anniversary. |
