Early Times Report KATHUA, Jan 16: In a proactive initiative towards promoting road safety awareness, the Road Safety Club at Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua commenced a month-long National Road Safety Month campaign. The inauguration ceremony took place on January 15, 2024, led by Principal Prof Seema Mir, alongside senior faculty members. To kickstart the campaign, the Road Safety Club organized a Slogan Writing competition on the first day, drawing enthusiastic participation from more than thirty volunteers. The participants showcased their creativity by crafting slogans and posters emphasizing crucial road safety measures such as wearing helmets, abstaining from drink-driving, using seat belts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, adhering to traffic signals, discouraging modified silencer bikes, preventing wrong parking, staying within speed limits, and ensuring valid driver's licenses. The top three posters were recognized for their outstanding content, with Vishal Gupta, Nikita Sharma, and Shivani Sharma securing the first, second, and third positions, respectively. Additionally, participants Iqra Kousar, Nandani, Harsh, Anananya Sharma, Alishea Rajput, Dheeraj Sharma, and Maroof Chaudhary received consolation prizes for their commendable efforts. The judging panel comprised Prof Yashpal Sharma, HOD Department of Urdu, and Prof Ram Singh, HOD Department of Education. The event enjoyed the patronage of Principal Prof Seema Mir and was meticulously supervised by Prof Manmohan Singh, Convenor of the Road Safety Club at GDC Kathua. Prof R K Pandita, HOD Department of Zoology, Prof Jagdish Kumar, Head of the Department of Chemistry, and Dr Shivani Kotwal, Head of the Department of English, graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. The Slogan Writing competition marked the commencement of a month-long series of activities aimed at fostering a culture of responsible and safe road practices among the student community and beyond. The GDC Kathua fraternity is committed to actively promoting road safety throughout the National Road Safety Month, which extends until February 14, 2024. |
