Notorious criminal, Baldev Raj, arrested by police for violating parole, drug trafficking

Early Times Report
BISHNAH, Jan 16: In a significant breakthrough, the police team of PS Bishnah successfully arrested Baldev Raj, a notorious criminal and drug peddler, who had jumped parole after being booked under the Provision of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1988 (PIT NDPS). The arrest was made in the Chorli area of Bishnah following a well-coordinated operation by the police.
Baldev Raj, also known as Raju, had a history of involvement in illicit drug trade, prompting his detention under PIT NDPS based on an order passed by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu. The accused, notorious for his cunning drug peddling activities, had been evading the police since his release on bail by the Hon'ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir to attend the last rites of his son on September 15, 2023.
Despite his efforts to escape law enforcement by giving slips to police parties, the Bishnah Police, led by Inspector Abid Bukhari, laid a successful trap after close surveillance and a combination of technical and human intelligence. The arrest is a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the police force in curbing drug-related crimes in the region.
Baldev Raj's detention under PIT NDPS once again sends a strong message to criminals and drug smugglers, acting as a deterrent and emphasizing the commitment of law enforcement to ensure the safety of the community. The police team, led by Inspector Abid Bukhari, operated under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, and the overall guidance of SP Hqrs Jammu, Ramnish Gupta JKPS. The successful apprehension is expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts to combat drug peddling and protect the youth of the Bishnah area.
