agencies JALANDHAR, Jan 20: In a display of exceptional athleticism and sportsmanship, Lovely Professional University (LPU) secured victory in the North-East Zone Inter-University Kho-Kho (Men) Championship-2023-24, organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The LPU team demonstrated outstanding skills and determination, ultimately claiming the championship trophy among strong contenders from government, state, and private universities in the region. The Kho Kho Game Compound at Lovely Professional University hosted the fiercely contested championship. LPU's team emerged victorious, securing the championship trophy. Prince, the fast scorer from LPU (Chest Number 8), was honored as the 'Best Player' of the Championship. Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar secured the position of the first runner-up. Panjab University Chandigarh claimed the second runner-up position. Maharishi Dayanand University Rohtak secured the fourth place. LPU's Pro Chancellor, Rashmi Mittal, congratulated the winning team and emphasized the importance of true sportsmanship and competitive spirit. Mittal highlighted that LPU students consistently excel in various fields, whether curricular or co-curricular. LPU's women's Kho-Kho team had previously won the Zonal championship trophy, showcasing the university's dominance in the sport. Kho-Kho, a traditional and widely played Indian game, involves two teams with 12 players each. During the game, 9 players from each team actively participate on the playing field, while the remaining 3 members form the defending team.
