Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 20: Shivani Charak, the accomplished sport climber from J&K, embarked on her journey to Delhi en route to Tata Nagar, Orissa, where she is set to participate in the highly anticipated 4th Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship. The championship is scheduled to take place at the TSAF Sport Climbing Training Centre, Bistupur, Jamshedpur, from January 26th to 29th, 2024. The 4th Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship is considered India's largest competition in sport climbing, featuring a total prize money of Rs. 6.50 lakhs. The championship stands out for its unique format, incorporating competitions in Lead and Bouldering (combined) as well as Speed Relay (Team). Before proceeding to Tata Nagar, Shivani Charak will undergo a three-day final stint of practice on international standard climbing walls at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and an international climbing gym in Delhi. Shivani Charak, having the distinction of being the first woman athlete from J&K to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games, China, is a renowned sport climber with a promising track record. Before her departure, Shivani Charak met with the President of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, to brief him about her plans for the upcoming international competitions. Zorawar Singh assured Shivani of all possible support and extended his best wishes for her success in the Tata Steel Championship. Ram Khajuria and Sumit Khajuria, Sr. Vice President and President, respectively, along with Sonam Sidharth, an executive member of Mountaineering Association of J&K, were also present to convey their best wishes to Shivani. The association expressed hope that Shivani Charak would bring honor to J&K sports by securing medals in the prestigious championship.
