Govt SPMR College of Commerce promotes Road Safety through awareness program

JAMMU, Jan 23: In a proactive effort to instill awareness about traffic rules and road safety, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce organized a program on January 23, 2024. The initiative, led by the Principal, Dr. Surinder Kumar Sharma, aimed to sensitize students, particularly those pursuing M.Com, to the critical importance of adhering to traffic norms.
During the program, Dr. Surinder Kumar Sharma emphasized the imperative nature of following traffic rules while driving. He urged students to take a personal pledge to abide by these rules and contribute to creating a safer road environment. The principal's initiative showcased the college's commitment to promoting responsible citizenship and safety consciousness.
The awareness program featured a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting ongoing road safety measures. It covered essential guidelines for becoming civic-minded drivers and focused on educating the youth on the consequences of reckless driving. The presentation underscored that adopting speed control limits and following traffic rules could significantly reduce accidents and save lives.
Dr. Vipul Chalotra, the Convener of the Road Safety Club at the college, delivered a comprehensive presentation elucidating various traffic rules and regulations. The program's success was further bolstered by the active participation of faculty members, including Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Dr. Ridhi Sharma, Dr. Gurcharan, and Dr. Jasvinder Singh.
Dr. Ramandeep Kaur concluded the event by expressing gratitude in the formal vote of thanks, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in creating responsible and safety-conscious citizens. The college's commitment to fostering awareness about road safety is expected to have a lasting impact on the behavior of students, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
