Early Times Report RAMBAN, Jan 24: Imtiyaz Latief Itoo, hailing from Banihal, has been elected as the President of the District Mountaineering Association, Ramban, in a unanimous decision taken during an election meeting held in Banihal. Aarif Muzzafar, an experienced and well-regarded trekker, secured the position of General Secretary for the association. Other key office-bearers elected include Ghulam Rasool Padder as Vice President, and Mukhtar Ahmad and Danish Iqbal as Joint Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. The Executive body, comprised of Umair Rather, Mohd Asaf, Naveed Ahmad, Murfat Ara, Rehina Iqbal, Bazla Mushtaq, and Touseef Ahmad, was also unanimously elected. Syed Abdul Mohsin, Joint Secretary (K) of Mountaineering Association of J&K, served as the Observer, while Dilsad Ahmad, an adventure enthusiast, acted as the Returning Officer for the election process. Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him, Aarif Muzzafar, the newly elected General Secretary, outlined the Association's purpose. He emphasized the need to coordinate adventure activities conducted by various clubs and individuals in the district. Muzzafar announced plans for a forthcoming meeting to strategize ways to boost adventure activities, especially trekking, making it a mass movement in Ramban district. The goal is to nurture more quality mountaineers and champion sport climbers in the region.
