Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 28: Natrang, a prominent theatre group, presented the gripping Hindi play 'Yamraaj Ka Nimantran' at the Natrang Studio Theatre in its weekly Sunday Theatre series. Under the adept direction of Neeraj Kant, the play unfolds the narrative of an arrogant king, Raja Abhiman Singh, and his encounter with the inevitable forces of death.
The storyline revolves around King Abhiman Singh, who is accustomed to false praises and believes that his demise would lead to chaos among his subjects. Seeking affirmation of his greatness, he questions his minister, queen, and royal priest, all of whom shower him with flattery. Convinced of his irreplaceability, the king declares his intention to rule for another hundred years.
The plot takes a dramatic turn when Yamdoot, the messenger of death, arrives at night to claim the king's soul. Despite the king's claims of being Prajapal, Lokpal, Mahipal, Dandpal, and Mahakaal on earth, Yamdoot remains relentless in his duty. A unique pact is struck - if three people genuinely love the king, Yamdoot will spare him. The subsequent interactions with the queen, minister, and priest reveal their self-serving motives, exposing the king's false world.
In the end, faced with the truth, the king willingly accepts his fate and requests Yamdoot to take him to Yamlok, bringing an end to the play.
The play carries a poignant social message, highlighting the consequences of arrogance, false praise, and self-deception. The narrative serves as a mirror reflecting the impact of deceit on personal relationships and societal dynamics.
Natrang's young and talented artists, including Sanket Bhagat, Vishal Sharma, Chaitanya Shekhar, Vandana Thakur, and Kushal Bhat, delivered compelling performances that effectively conveyed the play's profound message.
Neeraj Kant skillfully directed the play, managing lights and music. The coordination of the show was handled by Mohd. Yaseen.
The production received acclaim for its thought-provoking storyline, skilled performances, and the ability to convey a relevant social message. Natrang continues to contribute to the cultural landscape of Jammu with its impactful and meaningful theatrical productions.
