JKAACL hosts All India Urdu Mushaira in celebration of Republic Day

JAMMU, Jan 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) marked the 75th Republic Day with the annual All India Urdu Mushaira at Abhinav Theatre in Jammu. The event, which has been a tradition since 1960, brought together renowned poets from Jammu and Kashmir as well as various states and Union Territories across the nation.
The inauguration ceremony saw Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS, Principal Secretary of the Department of Culture, lighting the lamp as the Chief Guest. Bharat Singh, JKAS, Secretary, JKAACL, Dr. Drakshan Andrabi, and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
Bharat Singh welcomed the esteemed poets and guests, emphasizing the significant role of literary events like Mushaira in shaping new ideas. He highlighted that such gatherings not only unite literary talents but also celebrate the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the region.
The Mushaira featured the participation of renowned poets such as Chander Bhan Khayal from Delhi, Jyoti Azad Khatri from Bhopal, MP, Asalm Rashid from Guna, MP, Asrar Chanderi from Chanderi, Madan Mohan Danish from Gwalior, Krishna Kumar Toor from Dharmshala, HP, Reenu Nayyar from Jalandhar, and local poets including Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, Parvez Manoos, Ahmad Shanas, Khursheed Bismal, Ghulam Nabi Gafil, Marwah Dachan, Touseef Tabish, Suhail Sadeeqi, Irfan Arif, and Parvez Malik.
The event witnessed a significant turnout, with Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Culture Department, Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JKAACL, and renowned artists in attendance. Notably, in accordance with the announcement by the Lt Governor, the inaugural function of the Akhil Bhartiya Kavi Sammelan revealed plans for the first-ever Dogri Kavi Sammelan at Abhinav Theatre on January 30, 2024, as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
