Police Academy in Udhampur marked the successful conclusion of a two-day seminar on "Community Policing" today, with the active participation of nineteen officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The seminar aimed to delve into the evolving concept of community policing, emphasizing its crucial role in fostering effective law enforcement with the active involvement of the public. The valediction function held at the Academy featured Sh. Rakesh Sambyal, Chief Prosecuting Officer, SKPA, as the chief guest. In his address, Shri Sambyal underscored the significance of community policing and robust public relations for the effectiveness of the police force. He highlighted that the new paradigm considers crime control and law and order management as participative functions, with the community playing a pivotal role in identifying and resolving issues that contribute to crime and disorder. Eminent speakers, including Dr. Mahesh Koul from SKUAST, Dr. Sarita Sood from the University of Jammu, and Shri Sunmati Gupta, Retd. Dy.SP and faculty member of the Academy, delivered insightful lectures to the participants, sharing their valuable experiences and perspectives on community policing. The course, coordinated by Sh. Amit Parkash Sehgal, Sr.PO, and assisted by HC Randip Singh SKPA Udhampur, provided a platform for officers of the rank of Sub-Inspector (SI) and Inspector to gain insights into the principles and practices of community policing.
