Krishi Vigyan Kendra organises awareness programme on natural farming | | | Early Times Report REASI, Jan 31: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised awareness programme on natural farming under "Up scaling of Natural Farming" project here today at Kheral village in Reasi distt. of J&K which was enthusiastically attended by a number of farm women of the area. The programme was organised to aware the participants on natural farming and guide them on the various practices required for natural farming.. The programme was organized under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N. Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. Sr.Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal warmly welcomed the participants and briefed the importance of natural farming in present era. He said that natural farming is the need of the era and informed that it is beneficial for the maintenance soil health and environment. He said that for a healthy society, quality and healthy food is required and natural farming can play a significant role for the production of safe and healthy food. He explained the four pillars of natural farming. He further said that natural farming is a promising means of reducing the dependence of farmers on external inputs, reducing the cost of cultivation and increasing the income of the farmers. DDM, NABARD, Reasi, Sh.Adarsh Gupta said that Reasi district of J&K has huge potential in natural farming and the farmers can generate more income by producing the safe and healthy food through natural farming. He discussed on Atam Nirbar Krishi and urged participants on the adoption of natural farming for more returns. He elaborated various banking schemes for the farmers and appreciated KVK, Reasi efforts for the welfare of the farming community. He stressed on the community based approach required for natural farming. Dr.Banarsi said that natural farming is agro-ecology based farming which integrates crops, trees, livestock and functional biodiversity. He discussed on the importance of farm fields as a source of organic matter and spoke on the usage of indigenous seed and bioinoculants as the catalyst required for natural farming. He guided participants on the preparation of Jeevamrit and Beejamrit and also elaborated the practices of mulching, Acchadana and various other biocontrol agents required for the natural farming. They also guided the participants on the preparation of Panchgavya, fermented butter milk, cow urine, Dasharpani etc. Smt.Anita Devi, awardee woman farmer of the area was also present during the event. During the programme inputs required for natural farming formulations were also distributed among the participants. The programme was assisted by Sh.Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr.Banarsi Lal with the formal vote of thanks. |
