KATHUA, Feb 2: In a significant development, the Court of Adjudicating Officer, Additional District Magistrate Kathua, Ranjeet Singh, has taken decisive action against Food Business Operators (FBOs) for violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006. A total fine of Rs 159,000 has been imposed on several manufacturers, wholesale dealers, and retailers during the proceedings related to the cases in Bani, Basohli, and Kathua blocks. The penalties were levied in response to the contraventions of the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 by the traders of aforementioned areas. The ADM, serving as the Adjudicating Officer, emphasized the importance of adhering to legal regulations in the food industry. He sternly warned the erring FBOs to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act and its associated rules, cautioning that non-compliance will result in stricter consequences in the future. It is crucial to note that the Adjudicating Officer, under the FSS Act-2006, directed the Concerned Enforcement Agency to take stern action against the violators. This directive aims to ensure that consumers are provided with wholesome and safe food by maintaining rigorous enforcement of the regulatory framework. The imposition of fines serves as a deterrent to potential violators and underscores the resolve of the authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of consumers in the district. |
